How to get a puppy to you:
S & L only ships their dogs at 12 weeks or older. S & L will make all of the flight arrangements. We will do our best to work out something convenient for you; however the welfare of the dog comes first and foremost. Direct flights if they are available will be chosen. It is always best if you can fly here and see the puppy and fly back with the puppy. Otherwise the puppies will fly in cargo in a specific area designated for pets. It is climate controlled and is not any more stressful for them than riding in a car. Everyone that has received a puppy this way has commented on how the puppy was when it arrived. We place blankets and secure the crate with ties to prevent any chance of escape. Many people are very fearful about sending their dogs this way, but it is very safe. We ask adopters to send a blanket or toy in advance so they can have their smell.
What is required to send a dog?
Health certificate, crate, rabies vaccination (if six months or older). We will not ship a puppy less than 12 weeks old or any adult dog over two years old. If the time comes to send a puppy and we feel the dog may be getting sick or the weather is questionable we WILL NOT send the dog. We cannot and will not send dogs in cold, snow, or heavy rain. This will be our decision and it is final.
Cost?
We charge a flat rate of $250 which is subject to change when cost of flight increases. This includes the crate, health certificate and our mileage to the airport. We travel 2 ½ hours to send our dogs.
Some people think that they can get a special pass to let the dog ride up by the stewardess or some other ideas. This is absolutely not the case. The dog, if riding with you in passenger, must ride under the seat. Otherwise, they will be in cargo. Usually counter-to-counter. We DO NOT send them to be picked up in baggage for obvious reason. You must sign and have identification at the cargo counter.
